The manager of Maxim Suramérica S.A.S, Laura Reyes, participated in the event held by the Universidad del Norte, where she stood out for her practical and strategic approach to the current challenges facing Colombian foreign trade.
During the discussion “Foreign trade scenarios in light of the suspension of the economic emergency,” Laura Reyes contributed a business perspective focused on managing regulatory uncertainty and the importance of regulatory compliance. She pointed out that, although sanctions are part of the legal framework and must be complied with, one of the biggest challenges for companies is the lack of clarity and stability in the rules of the game, which makes long-term planning difficult.
In her speech, she emphasized that compliance is not limited to technical knowledge of the rules, but also involves understanding how institutions work and strengthening relationships with authorities. She highlighted the importance of creating direct channels of communication, “putting a face” to regulatory entities, and allowing them to understand business operations as a strategy for reducing risk and building trust.
He also explained Maxim Suramérica’s business model, emphasizing that the company is committed to providing comprehensive services and close support to international companies interested in operating in the region. He highlighted that Colombia’s competitiveness lies not only in labor costs, but also in the quality of its human talent and its ability to adapt to changing environments, especially in the context of nearshoring.
His participation made it clear that business strengthening, strategic planning, and coordination between the private sector and public institutions are fundamental pillars for facing the challenges of foreign trade in a dynamic global scenario.
